Chairman’s Report 12 July 2006
To follow last years terrific success with the World War 2 exhibition was always going to be difficult, but I think we have had some significant successes. We have increased our membership during the year and this will help our bank balance (small though it is).
We have had four quarterly meetings where items of interest to the Society were the subject of talks from a number of contributors. They are Stan Sutherland, Ken Neale, Fiona Wells and of course tonight’s speaker Michael Southgate. I would like to thank them all for giving the presentations either free of charge or for a small donation to other struggling organisations.
The Society has had limited but significant success towards the goal of producing a book about Radwinter during the Second World War.
The information gathered by our intrepid research team has been very interesting and may one day form the basis of another talk to the Society.
I would like to thank Michael Southgate, Tim Pratt and Sue Taylor for all their hard work and the efforts made to effectively use our Lottery grant monies.
Lastly I would like to thank the other hard working committee members and in particular our secretary John Hardisty and our treasurer, Tom Chamberlain. I only have to finish the round of thanks by passing on the society’s gratitude to Leon Simmonds for the audit of our accounts.
